The anime "Hanaori-san wa Tensei shite mo Kenka ga Shitai" – known internationally as "Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life" – has released a second key visual. The artwork was unveiled ahead of the sixth episode via the project's official website and social media channels. It shows the main characters of the series in a new arrangement: this time, the focus is not on the protagonist duo, but on the mysterious Tsumugi Nameru, who looks at the ongoing events with a meaningful smile. Around her are Ryusei Narukami and Meteor Hanaori with determined expressions, as well as the other main characters. Tsumugi Nameru is considered a character who holds the key to the plot; her appearance suggests that the story is moving in a new direction. The role is voiced by Maaya Uchida.
The original work created by Hekiru Hikawa is a reverse isekai romantic comedy with fantasy elements: Ryusei Narukami was once the Demon King in another world, but now spends his days in the present as a reclusive NEET. Meteor Hanaori, the heroine who defeated him back then, has been reborn as a high school girl. When Ryusei takes a position as a teacher at Mikenshi Girls' High School – the very school Meteor attends – their paths cross again, and the old rivalry turns into a fast-paced romantic comedy.
Along with the new visual, the production team also announced the digital release of the original soundtrack. The soundtrack, composed by Yukari Hashimoto and R・O・N, will be released on August 22, 2026, and includes 48 tracks, including pieces dedicated to the character Tsumugi Nameru and her story. Music production is handled by Pony Canyon.
The anime has been airing since July 11, 2026, in the "ANiMAZiNG!!!" programming block on ABC Television and the TV Asahi group, as well as on BS Nittele and AT-X. In Japan, episodes are available on d Anime Store and ABEMA after broadcast; internationally, Crunchyroll streams the series. Directed by Hideyo Yamamoto, with series composition by Yukie Sugawara, character design by Yosuke Okuda, and animation production by Liden Films. The opening theme "High Maintenance Girl" is by Masayoshi Oishi, and the ending theme "Very Good Encounter" is sung by Maaya Uchida. To mark the start of the broadcast, creator Hekiru Hikawa also contributed a collaboration illustration with her earlier series "Pani Poni!"
The manga source material has been serialized in Kodansha's Morning Two magazine since August 2021; ten volumes have been released as of July 2026. Publisher Seven Seas Entertainment will release the series in North America starting October 2026 in a 2-in-1 omnibus edition. The anime adaptation was announced in September 2025.
