Driven by the desire to uncover his son's fate, he leads Kiruko and Maru to a place mentioned in his earlier stories. It quickly becomes clear that Juuichi's fear is justified as they explore the abandoned location, which eerily suggests a hasty retreat.

The fear reaches its peak when an unexpected temperature drop hints at a Hiruko attack—a disaster they narrowly avoid thanks to Maru's quick thinking. Later, they learn that Juuichi's son is still alive, along with some survivors who were saved from a Hiruko attack due to a timely disruption.

Maru identifies Juuichi's son, Juugo, as the Hiruko. As a farewell, Juuichi gifts Maru and Kiruko his delivery van and some items. Yet, the dramatic tension remains, as Juuichi's backstory reveals a vile betrayal that led to the deaths of two women during his escape. Now that he is reunited with his son, their future remains uncertain due to Juuichi's ambiguous character.

Parallel to these developments, the subplot focusing on Tokyo continues to unfold. As she nears her due date, she faces increasing ostracization, while the adult characters grapple with their own fears.
