Since May 15, the new series "Higurashi" (Japanese: "Bear Storm") by artist Cathy Kato has been serialized in Shinchosha's Comic Bunch Kai. The adaptation is based on the novel of the same name by Yoshimura Akira, which in turn is inspired by the real-life "Sankebetsu Brown Bear Attack" of 1915.

The story is set in the fourth year of the Taisho era (1915) in the then-pioneer village of Sankebetsu on Hokkaido. The residents are terrorized by a massive brown bear—a relentless cat-and-mouse game for survival begins. Kato, known for works such as "Joō no Rakuin – Horobi no Kuni no Yotogi Miko," brings this high-tension drama to life in a new way.

To mark the launch, Comic Bunch Kai offers an extensive preview: the first two chapters, totaling 100 pages, are available for free all at once. The first chapter serves as a kind of prologue, shedding light on the backstory of the outlaw hunter Ginshirō Yamaoka, while the second chapter unfolds the main plot.
