Starting in July, the manga series The Taste of a Married Woman’s Lips is Like Canned Chu-Hai (original title: Hitozuma no Kuchibiru wa Kan Chu-Hai no Aji ga Shite) by author Tama Nogami and illustrator Chinjao Musume will be adapted into an animated series. Alongside the announcement, first visual impressions as well as details about the cast and production were released.

The story follows Tsuyoshi, a student with a preference for strong alcopop mixed drinks, who becomes entangled in episodic encounters with married women of vastly different personalities. The central motif – a can featuring Tsuyoshi’s likeness – symbolizes the ambivalent connection between him and the female protagonists.

The released illustration focuses on Yui Kurayama, one of the main female characters, whose elegant appearance and enigmatic aura contrast with Tsuyoshi’s carefree demeanor. The animation will be handled by Studio Raiose under the direction of Kazu Katura. The character designs are adapted by Yuriko Naito, known for her ability to visually convey subtle emotional nuances.

Takaaki Ishii has been cast as the voice of Tsuyoshi, while Shiho Kawaragi brings the character of Yui to life. In a statement, the production team emphasized their focus on the "tension between everyday reality and surreal moments," which will be enhanced by atmospheric color design and sound direction.

The series, which originally debuted as a web publication on YanMaga Web, blends black humor with social commentary. Further details regarding episode structure or accompanying music are expected at a later date.
