On January 12, 2013, the first feature film based on Yoshihiro Togashi's "Hunter x Hunter" will hit Japanese theaters. Ticket sales for Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge begin on November 3, 2012. Those who act fast can snag one of 50,000 prepared folders as a nice bonus with their movie ticket. There are three different designs to choose from.

The story focuses on the character Kurapika, known from the manga version, who has taken the Hunter Exam to become a Hunter and seek revenge against the so-called Phantom Troupe, a mysterious group with spider tattoos who exterminated Kurapika's people, the Kurta. The plot is based on a ten-year-old, unpublished story by manga artist Yoshihiro Togashi.

The title song "Reason" is performed by the duo YUZU. The song comes from a collaboration with musician and composer Hyadain, who has previously contributed to theme songs for One Piece, Toriko, and Kuroko no Basuke.
