International festival "Tōkyō Anime Award Festival 2026" (Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2026) announced

From March 13 to 16, 2026, the international animation festival "Tōkyō Anime Award Festival" will take place in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The event will hold its thirteenth edition in 2026.

The festival evolved from the "Tōkyō Anime Award," which has existed since 2002 and was originally part of the "Tōkyō International Animation Fair." Main goals include promoting young talents for future animation productions, strengthening animation culture and industry in Tokyo, and increasing the tourist appeal of the metropolis.

The program includes screenings of nominated works in the competition segment, award-winning works from the "Animation of the Year" category, exhibitions honoring distinguished figures in the industry, as well as international guest screenings, expert discussions, and practical workshops. Parallel to the announcement, the acceptance of submissions for the competition area began. Animation productions of all nationalities completed after January 1, 2024, are eligible – both professional and non-professional works.
