International Manga Conference in Cologne. A must for all true manga fans. From September 30th to October 2nd of this year, an international manga and comic conference will take place at the Japanese Cultural Institute in Cologne.

Under the title "INTERCULTURAL CROSSOVERS, TRANSCULTURAL FLOWS: MANGA/COMICS," lively discussions and conferences are set to take place. The organizers—the Universities of Cologne, Kyoto, Tübingen, and Leipzig—have collaborated with the cultural institute "Center for Intercultural and Transcultural Studies" as well as the "Manga Research Center" to create a unique event.

The program includes various lectures and workshops where everyone can participate as they wish. Additionally, there will be discussions addressing manga as a medium in both contemporary and historical contexts. On October 2nd, the focus will be on "Naruto." Using the story of the famous ninja, cultural questions as well as gender perspectives will be examined.

As German guests, the conference in Cologne will welcome German mangaka Christina Plaka ("Herrscher aller Welten"), Martina Peters, and Anne Delseit ("Lilientod").
