New image footage of the main character Cecil Glow Alphasta has been released for the upcoming anime adaptation of the series An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess. The series is scheduled to begin in 2026.

The story is based on a light novel series by Shiki and tells an unusual romance from the male perspective. The protagonist Cecil, crown prince of the Kingdom of Alphasta, is engaged to Vertia (also called Bertia in the original), who claims to have been reborn and to be taking on the role of the villainess in a fantasy game she knows. While Cecil initially does not believe her, he begins to take an interest in her when her predictions seem to come true.

The narrative focuses on Cecil's observations of his fiancée's turbulent attempts to fit into the role of an "evil" aristocratic daughter – efforts that often fail comically due to her actually kind-hearted nature.

- Cecil Glow Alphasta: The crown prince is described as a calm, intelligent, and attractive young man, who however suffers from a hereditary emotional disorder that makes him apathetic. His fiancée Vertia becomes the only interesting object in his life. He is voiced by the experienced voice actor Yuusuke Kobayashi.

- Vertia (Bertia) Noches: The self-proclaimed "villainess" is in truth a kind-hearted, if somewhat naive person, who desperately tries to escape the fate of her game character, but often achieves the opposite. She is voiced by Miyu Tomita.

The series is directed by Junichi Yamamoto. The character designer Miki Matsumoto is responsible for the distinctive look of the characters in the anime. The production of the anime is being handled by the studio Ashi Productions, which is also known in the industry by its former name Production Reed.

The original light novel series was published between 2017 and 2024 and also received a successful manga adaptation. A continuation story, An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess, has been published since 2022.
