Inu-Oh is an animated musical about the unknown Muromachi-era pop star Inu-Oh and his partner, the biwa master Tomona. The trailer features the voices of Tasuku Emoto as Yoshimitsu Ashikaga, Kenjiro Tsuda as Inu-Oh's father, and Yutaka Matsushige as Tomona's father. The film opens with the singing voice of Avu-chan as Inu-Oh, followed by scenes conveying the impression of groovy music and the striking performance scenes of Inu-Oh and Tomona.

The film made its world premiere at the 78th Venice International Film Festival in September 2021 and was the first Japanese 2D film to compete in the Horizons category of the Venice International Film Festival.

GKIDS has licensed the film and describes its story as follows:

Inu-Oh is born with unique physical characteristics, and the horrified adults cover every inch of his body with clothing, including a mask for his face. One day, he meets a boy named Tomona, a blind biwa player, and as Tomona plays a delicate song about tangled fate, Inu-Oh discovers an incredible ability to dance.

Inu-Oh and Tomona become business partners and inseparable friends, using their creative talents to survive on the fringes of society while song after song makes them famous and turns them into stars. With his songs, Inu-Oh captivates the audience on stage and gradually transforms into a person of unparalleled beauty. But why is Tomona blind? Why was Inu-Oh born with unique traits? It is a story about the friendship of Inu-Oh and Tomona, who dance and sing to uncover the truth and break each other's curse.
