The 47th Japan Academy Prize recently announced its nominations in various categories, including the Outstanding Animation Award. Among the five animated films nominated for this prestigious accolade are "GeGeGe no Kitaro: The Birth of Kitaro," "How Do You Live?," "Totto-chan by the Window," "Detective Conan: The Iron Submarine," and "BLUE GIANT."

"GeGeGe no Kitaro: The Birth of Kitaro," one of the nominated films, has been particularly praised for its success and popularity, which is largely attributed to word-of-mouth promotion by fans. Director Gou Koga thanked the audience for their support. Character designer Tokuo Tanitabe contributed a celebratory illustration featuring Kitaro's father and Mizuki in festive attire, reflecting the film's success and the love it has received.

In addition to the animation category, "BLUE GIANT" received a nomination for Outstanding Music, thanks to Hiromi Uehara's musical contributions. The live-action film "Kingdom: The Flames of Fate," based on Yasuhisa Hara's manga, was recognized in the categories of Outstanding Cinematography and Lighting.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 8, when the winners of the Excellence Prizes and the Grand Prize in each category will be announced.
