The short animation series "Pino & Shinoby", a co-production between Japan and Italy, will be broadcast starting April 3, 2025, on Japanese television and on the Italian public broadcaster Rai. In Japan, the broadcaster Yomiuri TV is responsible for the airing. Concurrently with the linear broadcast, the episodes will also be available in Japan on the streaming platforms YouTube and TVer.

The six-minute episodes of the series, designed for children, revolve around the Italian boy Pino and Shinoby, the official mascot of Yomiuri TV, who is an aspiring ninja. Together, they embark on everyday adventures, discovering the cultural peculiarities of their respective home countries. A special feature of the series is that each character communicates in their native language – Pino in Italian and Shinoby in Japanese – which underscores the cultural identity while playfully depicting an intercultural exchange about language, food, and games.

The series is produced by the Italian animation studio Studio Bozzetto, which has a long tradition in the industry. Initial plans for the project were announced as early as April 2025. The first two episodes had their world premiere in the summer of 2025 at the Italy Pavilion of the World Exposition in Osaka. Shinoby, originally designed for the 60th anniversary of Yomiuri TV, comes from the pen of Japanese artist Daisuke Nishijima.
