At the beginning, Takada, who has a broken arm, receives help from his friends with various daily tasks. The care his friends show for him leads others to tease them, saying they act like a married couple. At the same time, Takada wants to protect his friends once his arm has healed.

Later, the focus shifts to the preparations for the field day. Takada wants to participate in the relay race, but his injury poses an obstacle. Kasahara, a fast runner, doesn’t want to join because he thinks it’s childish. The dilemma is resolved when another character, Hino, persuades Kasahara to take part in the relay race, highlighting the spirit of friendship and teamwork.

On the day of the event, Takada is initially absent because he is at the hospital to check if he can participate in the race. In his absence, the relay race begins, and the fifth graders struggle. Just as their hopes are fading, Kasahara takes the lead and overtakes most of the competitors. Just as he is about to pass the baton, Takada appears.

Takada’s arrival boosts the team’s morale, and he delivers an impressive performance, catching up to the leading team and securing victory for his group.

The episode ends with the characters looking back at the photos from the field day and cherishing the memories they’ve created. The final scene teases the next episode, hinting that Takada and Kasahara will walk home together.
