Masaya Fukunishi, Wataru Katō, and Asami Seto take the helm as the three main voices in the series. They appear as Kafka Hibino (also known as Kaiju No. 8), Reno Ichikawa, and Mina Ashiro, respectively.

The animation of the series is in the experienced hands of Production I.G, known for their earlier notable works. Studio Khara is responsible for the artwork and design of the Kaiju, the central creatures of the series.

The original manga, which debuted in July 2020, quickly gained popularity. Shueisha published it on their Shonen Jump+ website, and the first printed volume was released in December 2020. Due to high demand, the manga series has since been reprinted multiple times.

The story of "Kaiju No. 8" revolves around a man who strays from his childhood dreams and finds himself in a unique situation—when he himself becomes a monster, he gets a new chance to pursue his lifelong goals.
