Kaijuu No. 8 - Episode 3

Episode 3 of "Kaiju No. 8" begins with Kikoru Shinomiya confronting Kafka Hibino about a strange smell she notices, prompting Reno Ichikawa to intervene. During the distraction, Kafka repositions his vehicle. Kikoru expresses her determination to defeat Kafka in the next phase of the Anti-Kaiju Selection Test.

As the episode progresses, Kafka participates in the fitness test of the second phase of the selection test. He struggles with the fitness test, especially compared to Kikoru, who mocks his performance before leaving. Reno and Kafka observe the other participants and note that Kikoru is an outstanding candidate.

Kafka promises to prove his skills, despite his doubts about his performance. Reno informs Kafka that the next phase involves Kaiju cleanup tasks, an area where Kafka excels. They then proceed to a new location, where Hoshina, the vice-captain of the Third Division, briefs the participants on the upcoming tasks, which involve capturing and eliminating Kaiju.

The participants are equipped with Defense Force Kaiju combat suits to enhance their fighting abilities. Despite having the lowest combat power, Kafka faces the challenge head-on as the tests begin. Kikoru demonstrates her combat prowess on the battlefield.

As the test continues, Kafka uses his prior knowledge of Kaiju species to show the other participants how to target the Kaiju's weak points. His advice leads to the defeat of a Kaiju, earning him the gratitude of the other candidates.

Shortly after, Kafka is attacked and severely injured by a Yoju. Before Kafka can be disqualified by Hoshina, Kikoru intervenes and allows Kafka to continue the test. Despite his severe injuries and advice to give up, Kafka's fighting spirit slightly increases, and he decides not to back down.
