The story continues its journey in a world on the brink of existence, being swallowed by the ever-expanding Great Snow Sea. Natsuki Hanae was announced as the latest addition to the cast. She will play the role of Byōzan, a character driven by the goal of destroying the Orbital Spire Trees.

The story revolves around a world where humanity barely survives above the Canopy, a vast area stretching from the roots to the tips of the giant Orbital Spire Trees. At the heart of the story are the characters Kaina, a boy who lives above the canopy, and Liliha, a princess of the small country Atland, which lies in the Great Snow Sea.

The film is set to hit theaters in Japan on October 13. For Polygon Pictures, this film sequel is a special occasion, as it marks the studio's 40th anniversary.

In addition to the anime adaptation, a manga version of the story has also been introduced in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius Magazine.
