The Japanese publisher Kadokawa has released a comprehensive update on the TV anime adaptation of Kei Sazane's light novel series "Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru" (loosely translated as "God's Game We Play" or "God Is Hungry for Games"). Among the new reveals, the central characters of the story, Fay and Leoleshea, have been assigned voice actors Nobunaga Shimazaki and Akari Kitō, respectively. This casting decision is a crucial part of bringing the novel’s unique premise to life—a premise that involves a celestial battle of wits instigated by bored gods, challenging anyone brave or foolish enough to participate.

Directing the series is Tatsuya Shiraishi from LIDEN FILMS, a studio known for its high-quality animation. NTL is handling the series composition, while character design is overseen by Yoshihiro Watanabe from Frontier One. The music for the series, a key factor in establishing the intended atmosphere, is composed by Gin from Busted Rose under the supervision of Pony Canyon.

As for the plot, we follow a former goddess and a human boy who happens to be a genius. This unlikely duo teams up to win the so-called "Game to End All Games," a competition with stakes set by capricious and inscrutable deities. This premise promises an intriguing mix of divine whimsy and mortal determination.

The original light novel series was first published by Kadokawa in January 2021, with illustrations by Toiro Tomose. So far, six volumes have been released, with the seventh set to debut in July. Additionally, a manga adaptation by Kapiko Toriumi began serialization in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine in August 2021.
