In episode 5, the story takes an unexpected turn as the characters find themselves in the heart of the imperial palace. The episode begins with the group infiltrating the palace to confront the emperor, only to discover that the emperor has been dead for a long time and the empire is controlled by machines.

As the group learns more about the history of the empire, they uncover that the world was once destroyed, and the survivors established a land free from the influence of the gods to prevent future destruction. However, the advanced technology and the empire's strict control over the population raise questions about the true nature of this world.

Loki, one of the Archons who has grown weary of the empire's oppressive regime, proposes destroying the machines that control the empire to bring about its downfall.

Throughout the episode, we see the characters grappling with their conflicting desires and beliefs. For example, Yukito wants to protect his friends and his village but also sees the benefits of Loki's plan to break the empire's control. On the other hand, Loki's actions are driven by her longing for a world with free will and her belief that the Archons can become true gods by destroying the empire.

By the end of the episode, Mitama intervenes and, at Yukito's request, destroys the machines controlling the empire. The palace begins to crumble, signaling the outbreak of chaos and the dawn of a new age of the gods.
