"Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru" will be adapted as a TV anime

The TV anime adaptation of Shigeru Sagazaki's novel "Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru ~Tada no Inaka no Kenjutsu Shihan datta no ni, Taisei shita Deshitachi ga Ore wo Hotte kurenai Ken~" has been confirmed. Titled "Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru," the anime will air starting April 2025.

The story revolves around Beryl Gardinant, who runs a small swordsmanship dojo in a remote village. One day, his former student Alyusia, now a captain in the royal knights, visits him. She asks him to come to the royal capital as a special advisor, setting the plot in motion. The original novel published by Square Enix and the manga adaptation by Kazuki Nata, released by Akita Shoten, have collectively sold 5.5 million copies. On August 6, the eighth volume of the novel and the sixth volume of the manga adaptation will be released simultaneously.

The key staff for the anime includes Akio Kazumi as director, Kunihiko Okada for series composition, Satsuki Hayasaka for character design and animation, and Yasuharu Takanashi for music. The animation is produced by studios Passione and Hayabusa Film, known for works such as "High School DxD," "Ishura," and "Spice and Wolf."
