The production of the original TV anime series "Kaze wo Tsugumono" has released a new promotional video, which for the first time showcases the voice of the main character. Simultaneously, new details about the broadcast and additional voice actors have been announced.
In the new PV, Daisuke Sakuma (member of the group Snow Man) can be heard as the protagonist Tachikawa Jinsuke, a young man who has lost his memory. The clip also provides glimpses into other main characters: Yūki Kaji as Sōji Okita, Aoi Yūki as Hyōgo Koganei, Kōki Uchiyama as Hijikata Toshizō, and Yūichi Nakamura as Kondō Isami can be heard.
As another new development, it was announced that Nihon Omori will take on the role of the cat Kuroskuke, the cat of the Shinsengumi headquarters. Omori, who previously voiced a cat in an earlier work by director Tomohiro Kawamura, expressed delight at returning to a feline role.
The series, which is a collaborative work by the companies Aniplex, Live2D, and Drive, uses Live2D technology for a novel visual presentation. Tomohiro Kawamura directs, while Yutaka Narui writes the script and Shigeru Kishida composes the music.
The TV anime series will air nationwide in Japan starting January 2027 in the "Agaru Anime" programming block of the CBC/TBS network. A theatrical version of the work will already be shown in advance screenings in 2026.
"Kaze wo Tsugumono" is a historical anime set during the time of the Shinsengumi, portraying the youth of young men in a turbulent era. The protagonist Jinsuke, who has no memories, is brought to Kyoto during the time of the Mibu-Rōshigumi (the later Shinsengumi) and begins a new life there among the samurai.
