On the homepage of Shogakukan's weekly manga magazine Shonen Sunday, you can now read the original short story by Yellow Tanabe (known for works like Birthday) in Japanese until mid-July—the 44-page <!--[bTAG]--><b>prototype of their shonen series Kekkaishi</b><!--[/bTAG]-->. The story was published in 2003 in the anthology, a few months before the start of the actual series, which now spans 24 volumes and is still ongoing.

In this region, Kekkaishi is published by Carlsen Manga. So far, eight volumes have been released, with Volume 9 scheduled for release in June 2009.
