On July 5th, new details about the upcoming TV anime series „Kikai-jikake no Marie“ (Mechanical Marie) were announced. The news includes the release of a first promotional clip as well as the confirmation of two additional voice actors: Chiaki Kobayashi will play the role of Noah, an assassin who acts on behalf of the protagonist’s stepbrother, while Ami Koshimizu voices Marie 2, an authentic robot maid with artificial intelligence. Both voice actors commented on the release in statements.

The first promotional clip offers a glimpse into key central scenes and highlights the protector dynamic between Marie and Arthur. Particularly in focus is Marie’s inner tension of having to conceal her human identity. The released material is supplemented by new character visuals showcasing additional figures from the main characters’ surroundings.

Based on the manga by Aki Aki, the series humorously tells the story of Marie, a former martial arts champion with minimal facial expressions, who works under the guise of a robot maid in the residence of heir Arthur to protect him from assassination attempts—a task made easier by her emotionless nature. Arthur, voiced by Haruki Ishiya, is the heir to a powerful financial empire.

The series is directed by Junji Nishimura (known for „Ranma ½“), with the series concept by Mariko Kunisawa, and animations produced by ZERO-G and LIBEL with character designs by Kyūta Sakai. The series will begin airing in October 2024.
