For the TV anime "Kin to Tetsu" based on the manga of the same name by Ayaka Katayama, the second teaser visual has been released. It shows the protagonist Dante from behind, facing a giant opponent; white mycelium spreads across the scene around him. The official team also hinted that the motif is part of a longer sequence of images – a "continuation" of the visual is said to already exist. Further details on this are reserved for a later announcement.

With the release, key staff positions for the series were also confirmed. Keitaro Motonaga is directing, known for productions such as "The Kingdoms of Ruin," "The Beginning After The End," several seasons of "Date A Live," and "Getbackers." The animation is being produced at Studio Yokohama Animation Lab, which has previously worked on titles like "The Kingdoms of Ruin" and "Sword of the Demon Hunter" (Kijin Gentosho).

In a statement, Motonaga promises an adaptation that brings out the best of the source material: the fast-paced and daring story is to be told with the dynamism and tension that only anime can offer. As a key focus, he highlights the hero's development – Dante's growth from episode to episode is one of the great appeals of the work.

The story is set in a world where fungi infect human brains, erasing freedom, thought, and emotion. What remains is only the order of the world government "Amigasa." Its soldier Dante is the only one who has not lost his self – precisely because he is imperfect. An encounter with the young woman Aoi and the resistance organization "Aether," which harnesses the power of iron, eventually leads him to question the laws of this world. The series, designed as dystopian science fiction, addresses fundamental questions about freedom and humanity.

The manga has been running since spring 2021 in Kodansha's magazine "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine"; after a longer hiatus due to her maternity leave, publication resumed in spring 2022. Now the series is approaching its conclusion: the final chapter will appear on September 9 in the October issue of the magazine with a cover and colored opening pages, and the final tenth compiled volume will follow on October 8. Internationally, the series is published digitally by Kodansha USA under the title "Fungus and Iron."

The anime adaptation was announced in March by the production company VAP along with the first teaser visual. A start date and the voice cast are still pending, as is the resolution of the hinted continuation of the new visual motif.
