"Kitaro's Birth: The Mystery of GeGeGe" reveals a dramatic scene

The film "Kitaro's Birth: The Mystery of GeGeGe," based on the work of Shigeru Mizuki, has released a key scene depicting the first encounter between Kitaro's father and Mizuki.

The film, which hit theaters on November 17, commemorates the 100th anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki's birth. The movie begins with Mizuki aboard a steam locomotive on his way to the village of Nagura, the setting of the story. Along the way, he aims to win the favor of Katsunori, the president of Ryuga Pharmaceuticals, to advance his career. However, a sudden power outage on the train leads to an eerie apparition of Kitaro's father, formerly known as Medama-Oyaji, who delivers a chilling warning to Mizuki about an ominous future. Shaken by this strange encounter, Mizuki realizes that Kitaro's father has mysteriously vanished.

Directed by Tsuyoshi Koga and written by Hiroyuki Yoshino, the film thrillingly depicts Mizuki's story, driven by ambition and secret missions, and Kitaro's father, who searches for his wife amid the mysterious events in Nagura Village. The film explores Kitaro's birth and the hidden secrets of Medama-Oyaji's past.

Within just three days of its release in Japan, the film was seen by over 111,000 viewers and grossed more than 1.6 billion yen, securing second place at the Japanese box office according to Kogyo Tsushinsha.
