Kadokawa Anime released the first trailer for the spin-off Konosuba: An Explosion on this Wonderful World! on its YouTube channel. The story focuses on the characters Megumin and Yunyun, voiced by their original actresses Rie Takahashi and Aki Toyosaki, respectively. The trailer sets the anime's premiere for sometime in 2023.

This new project will complement the already existing two TV seasons of Konosuba, as well as a 90-minute film titled Konosuba: Legend of Crimson. The first season consisted of 20 episodes, broadcast between January 2016 and March 2017. Studio Deen was behind the anime production of both the series and the film.
