The upcoming third season will introduce three new characters to the ensemble: Kanon Takao as Iris, Sayuri Yahagi as Claire, and Reina Ueda as Rain. Returning cast members include Jun Fukushima as Kazuma Satō, Sora Amamiya as Aqua, and Rie Takahashi as Megumin, among others.
Takaomi Kanasaki, the director of the previous seasons, will now serve as chief director for the new season at Studio Drive. Yujiro Abe will handle directorial duties, while Makoto Uezu returns to oversee the series' scripts. Koichi Kikuta is also back as character designer. Additional team members include Sound Director Yoshikazu Iwanami and music production by Nippon Columbia.
The anime is scheduled for release in 2024, building on the two prior TV series and a film. These earlier adaptations were well-received and streamed by Crunchyroll as they aired in Japan. The story, originally a light novel series by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima, follows Kazuma, a shut-in who, alongside the goddess Aqua, gets a second chance in a fantasy world.
