Kowloon Generic Romance - Episode 7

Kudo plans to propose to Reiko, as he wants to give her „the best Kowloon“ before the city is razed to the ground. However, Gwen warns him about Kowloon’s instability and reveals that the second Kowloon Walled City was already demolished three years ago – the current version is an illegal replica visible only to certain people. Meanwhile, Miyuki uncovers in conversations with Yulong and Dr. Wong that the Zirconians (artificial replicas of deceased individuals) are part of a larger plan linked to Generic Terra’s memory storage.

Reiko continues to struggle with her identity: She decides to move out of Kujirai B’s apartment to assert herself as an independent person, but is stopped by Kudo, who visits her in Kujirai B’s old room on the anniversary of their death. Parallel to this, medical records reveal that the real Reiko Kujirai died by suicide – a secret Dr. Wong had kept until now.

The episode culminates in a surreal moment: A pizza deliveryman cannot see Reiko and Yaomay and refers to Kowloon as „abandoned ruins.“ Gwen explains that Kowloon and its inhabitants exist only for select individuals – a projection that might resonate with Generic Terra’s technology. Yaomay refuses to accept this, while Reiko realizes that her existence might be tied to the illusion of Kowloon.
