Sebastian confronts him with the impending contract breach if Ciel abandons his revenge mission. This forces Ciel to recall his true motive – power for personal satisfaction, not for others – and stabilizes his mental state.

Back in the present, the escape from the forest escalates: Diederich warns Ciel about the German military presence and saves him from an attack by the tank – an experimental tracked vehicle with a heavy cannon. While Baldroy and Snake flee with Diederich to the rail depot, Ciel and Sebastian take on the defense against the tank.

Ciel analyzes the tank's weak points (thin top armor, weight distribution) and orders Sebastian to destroy it. Sebastian first eliminates the accompanying infantry with Baldroy's explosives, then infiltrates the vehicle and plants a bomb inside. The tank is rendered useless by the explosion.
