Lazarus - Episode 1

The world is on the brink of collapse: Four years ago, Dr. Skinner developed the miracle painkiller Hapna, which became a global breakthrough – until Skinner disappeared. Three years later, a viral video reveals his devilish trap: Hapna only appears to be free of side effects. After exactly three years, it kills all users, and the first deaths are expected in 30 days. Skinner also leaves behind a riddle about the "Seventh Trumpeter."

At the center is Axel Gilberto, an inmate at Northport Correctional Facility serving an 888-year sentence. The mysterious Hersch offers him freedom in exchange for his help against the impending apocalypse. Axel, a masterful escape artist, skillfully breaks out and disappears into the futuristic Babylonia, while chaos erupts worldwide: protests, pharmaceutical arson attacks, and a stock market crash following the Hapna recall.

Hersch's team – tech expert Elaina, motorcyclist Chris, and strategist Doug – chases Axel through the city with drones. Despite Axel's acrobatic rooftop escape and a risky drone ride, the team finally corners him using a ruse. Knocked unconscious, he awakens before the group Lazarus, which aims to turn the fate of humanity around.
