Legend of the Galactic Heroes: A new chapter begins

The science-fiction saga "Legend of the Galactic Heroes: The New Thesis" has been greenlit for another continuation—an exciting development for fans of the interstellar tale. The announcement was made as part of the series' 5th anniversary celebration, which took place on November 5.

"Legend of the Galactic Heroes," originally a novel series penned by Yoshiki Tanaka, has sold over 15 million copies since the release of its first volume in 1982. The novel series, consisting of 10 main volumes and 5 side stories, has been a staple of the science-fiction genre for decades. The story, set in the vast expanse of outer space, was adapted into an anime series starting in 1988, with the current version, "The New Thesis," being produced by Production I.G. since 2018.

To date, this reimagined anime series has produced four seasons titled "Encounter," "Stellar War," "Clash," and "Intrigue," comprising a total of 48 episodes, which have been broadcast on television and screened at events.

At the anniversary event, attended by voice actors Mamoru Miyano (Reinhard), Kenichi Suzumura (Yang), Junichi Suwabe (Oberstein), Yuki Kaji (Julian), Yuuto Uemura (Müller), and Shinichiro Miki (Schönkopf), the continuation of the series was announced and showcased in a promotional video.
