More than three decades after the debut of the cult series Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (known in the West as Ronin Warriors), the story continues: Yoroshiden Samurai Troopers will premiere in January 2026, bringing the time-honored armor saga into the present day.
As part of an event in Tokyo on June 11, the first details about the production, cast, and visual style were revealed. The director is Yūichi Fujita (Gintama, Osomatsu-san), while the script is written by Shōgo Mutō (Kamen Rider Build, Thermae Romae). The new character designs are provided by Yūhei Murota (Love Live!), and the iconic armor design sees the return of Hideo Okamoto – the original designer of the 1988 series. The sequel is once again produced by SUNRISE Studios (Bandai Namco Filmworks).
The story relocates the franchise to the dystopian Shinjuku of the present day: A new generation of Samurai Troopers faces the demonic army of Emperor Arak. At the center is the young protagonist Gai (voiced by Yōsai Ishibashi), who wears the fiery "Yoroi Gear" armor.
The released teaser visual shows the striking silhouette of an armor-clad warrior against an apocalyptic cityscape. The super-teaser features Gai's impressive transformation ("Buso! Shakunetsu!!"), destroyed city districts, and the menacing portals of the demons.
The original series once followed five youths in their battle against the supernatural. Yoroshiden Samurai Troopers now opens a new chapter – with a standalone story designed to thrill both longtime fans and a new generation.
