In Episode 9 of Liar, Liar, the characters find themselves in a challenging situation as they face the mysterious doppelgänger who can impersonate anyone in ASTRAL. The episode begins with the characters discussing the distribution of newly acquired spells, only to realize they are unable to initiate a battle, leading them to suspect a trap. The tension rises as they discover that Saionji isn’t the only one the doppelgänger can embody, making the team members wary of each other.

They devise a plan to prevent the doppelgänger from replacing them by keeping an eye on each other and moving in pairs. However, tensions escalate when Nanase and Hiroto get into an argument during a blackout, prompting Nanase to temporarily leave the game. Meanwhile, Hiroto and Himeji face off against Kururugi and her team, managing to defeat them despite being outnumbered. Yet, they notice their territory hasn’t expanded, leading them to suspect Miss Hundred Faces is up to something.

Back at Eimei Academy, Enomoto and Asamiya have a heart-to-heart conversation, revealing their feelings and concerns for each other. Enomoto admits he intentionally drove Asamiya crazy to protect her from the game’s cruelty. Asamiya, in turn, reveals she attacked an opponent from Ibara Academy after noticing him preparing a spell, proving her quick thinking and dedication to the team.

In a surprising twist, Hiroto decides to eliminate himself from ASTRAL, believing Eimei Academy must win under the current circumstances. He assures his teammates that everything is going according to plan, leaving them confused and anxious about what lies ahead.

The episode ends with the announcement that Hiroto has been eliminated from ASTRAL and that Seijo Academy holds the most territories and support votes.
