The light novel "Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga – Hinamiya Chōso Torikae Den" ("Though I Am an Unskilled Maid") by author Saki Nakamura is being adapted into a TV anime. The animation production is handled by studio Doga Kobo. Mitsue Yamazaki is directing, Noriko Nakamura is in charge of series composition, and Ai Kikuchi is designing the characters.
The story takes place in a palace where selected princesses are raised to become future queens. The esteemed and beloved princess Kō Reirin becomes the victim of a body swap one night, orchestrated by Shu Keigetsu, an unpopular princess notorious as a "villainess." Now, Reirin faces execution—while trapped in Keigetsu's body. Surprisingly, however, Reirin, who was originally weak and sickly, sees the body swap as a fortunate turn of events. With newfound strength and unyielding determination, she overcomes all adversities and eventually becomes entangled in a political conspiracy within the imperial palace.
Alongside the announcement, the first illustration by Ai Kikuchi, depicting the swapped protagonists, was released, as well as congratulatory illustrations from the original novel's illustrator Yukiya and manga artist Hanae Oitsuji, whose adaptation is currently serialized in Monthly Comic ZERO-SUM.
