The manga "Look Back" by Tatsuki Fujimoto will be adapted into an anime film and is set to premiere nationwide on June 28. This was announced alongside the release of teaser images and a special video trailer.
"Look Back" tells the moving story of the self-confident girl Fujino, who takes pride in her drawing skills, and her classmate Kyomoto, who skips school. The story begins when Fujino, who has published a four-panel comic in her elementary school newspaper, is deeply shaken by Kyomoto's extraordinary drawing talent. After this encounter, she temporarily gives up drawing, but through her interactions with Kyomoto, her passion for art is reignited.
The manga was first published as a one-shot in Shonen Jump+ in July 2021, followed by a volume in September of the same year.
The adaptation is being worked on by a talented team, with Kiyotaka Oshiyama serving as director, screenwriter, and character designer, while Studio Dorian is responsible for the animation production.
Fujimoto described "Look Back" as a work through which he attempted to process unresolved feelings within himself. Even if he isn't sure whether he has fully processed these feelings, the adaptation is an important milestone.
