The release of the third and final part of the cinema trilogy "Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club – Final Chapter" is drawing closer. On June 14, 2026, during the second day of the "8th Live! TOKIMEKI Express" concert in Tokyo, the official key visual for the final chapter was unveiled. The image shows the twelve school idols determinedly walking toward a rainbow – while club manager Yu Takasaki watches them from behind. The accompanying slogan reads: "Tokimeki wa itsumademo – Ikō! Niji no saki e" ("The excitement lasts forever – Let's go! To the end of the rainbow").

With the key visual, the long-awaited dance outfits of Karin Asaka and Kasumi Nakasu were also presented to the public for the first time. The reactions from the audience and voice actors were enthusiastic; especially Kasumi's voice actress Mayu Sagara praised the elegant design of Karin's costume.

The final film concludes the story of the trilogy, which picks up after the events of the two TV seasons and the OVA "Next Sky." In the first two parts, the idols traveled to stages of the "School Idol GPX" – first to Okinawa, then to Kyoto, Osaka, and Kōbe. The third part takes place in Tokyo, where the final of the competition is held. Direction is once again by Tomoyuki Kawamura, with the screenplay by Jin Tanaka. Sunrise produces the animation, with distribution by Bandai Namco Filmworks and Shochiku ODS.

In addition to the visual reveal, further announcements were made. The first and second seasons of the TV series will be rebroadcast on BS Nittele starting July and September 2026 respectively (each on Wednesdays at 11:30 PM). Four new unit singles will be released between August and October 2026: from A・ZU・NA, Diver Diva, QU4RTZ, and R3BIRTH. Additionally, a newly drawn illustration for the official trading card game "Love Live! Card Game" (the booster "MELLOW MOMENT" releasing in August) was published.

The first part of the trilogy hit Japanese theaters on September 6, 2024, and the second on November 7, 2025. The third and final film will be released nationwide in winter 2026. Advance ticket sales for Mubi have already started, including a limited edition with exclusive clear cards.

With the final chapter, the story of the Nijigasaki school idol group comes to an end. The group has been part of the "Love Live!" franchise since 2017 and distinguishes itself from its predecessors μ’s and Aqours through the concept of solo activities.
