Lupin III: New anime movie "Immortal Blood Clan" reveals teaser and B'z song

The iconic anime series Lupin III returns with a new theatrical film: LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: Fushimi no Ketsuzoku (Eng. Immortal Blood Clan) opens in Japanese theaters on June 27. Director Takeshi Koike (Lupin III: The First) continues his work on the IIIrd series, presenting a 2D-animated cinematic adventure for the first time in 30 years – last seen with Dead or Alive (1996).

A teaser trailer and a dynamic key visual have been released. They show Lupin III and his crew – Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko, and Inspector Zenigata – in action-packed poses as they pursue a "treasure on an undiscovered island." The aesthetic combines Koike's distinctive, stylized art style with dramatic lighting effects. A cliffhanger hints at life-threatening dangers: Lupin appears to sink helplessly into the dark ocean depths. The key visual emphasizes his determined stance with the slogan "Let's settle this!" while the crew in the background seems prepared for further conflicts.

The opening theme The IIIRD Eye is by rock legends B'z. Guitarist Tak Matsumoto revealed that his favorite character is "undoubtedly Fujiko," while singer Koshi Inaba explained the song's theme: "The track reflects boundless greed but also a kind of incorruptibility – just like Lupin himself." A snippet of the song can be heard in the teaser, which has been released on official channels.

Koike's IIIrd series, known for its dark plots and cinematic action, continues with Immortal Blood Clan, blending mystery and classic Lupin charm. Fans hope for a return to the series' roots, enhanced with modern animation techniques. The film also marks a comeback of traditional 2D aesthetics in an era dominated by 3D.
