On the official website for the anime Lupin III: Part 6, new details were updated today. First and foremost, the new season is set to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the premiere of the first anime adaptation, which will air on Japanese television on October 9. Additionally, the portal features a new key visual designed by character designer Hirotaka Marufuji, showcasing the main characters of the series.

The website also announces the series' writer, Takahiro Okura, and five guest writers for the omnibus episodes—Mamoru Oshii, Masaki Tsuji, Taku Ashibe, Akio Higuchi, and Kanae Minato. Oshii was once involved in the development of a Lupin the 3rd film project that never saw the light of day, while Tsuji and Higuchi wrote Lupin the 3rd novels.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story of the new anime as follows:

Master thief Lupin III is back and ready for his next heist—unless the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes has something to say about it! When Holmes' partner Dr. Watson is murdered, none other than Lupin himself tops the list of suspects. As Holmes closes in, Lupin must prove his innocence and expose an organization called "The Raven" if he hopes to survive and steal another day.
