The manga "Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies" by Cocoa Fujiwara will be adapted into a TV anime and animated by the renowned studio BONES. The romantic comedy, serialized from 2013 to 2015 in Gangan JOKER (Square Enix), tells the story of the evil strategist Mira, who falls in love at first sight with the magical girl Byakuya, who fights to protect the world. The original manga series was left unfinished after Fujiwara's death in 2015 and was published in three volumes.
A special promotional video was released alongside the announcement of the anime adaptation. The main staff for the anime has been revealed: Akiko Ohashi, known for "The Stranger by the Beach," will direct; Yuniko Ayana, who worked on "Given" and "The Idolmaster SideM," will handle series composition and scriptwriting; Haruko Iizuka, who previously designed the characters for Fujiwara's "Inu × Boku SS" adaptation, will also take on character design for this project. The music will be composed by MAYUKO, known for her work on "Ranking of Kings."
