An anime adaptation of the second and third volumes of Asari Endou's "Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku (Magical Girl Raising Project)" with the subtitle "Restart" has been announced.

Hiroyuki Hashimoto, the director of the first anime adaptation of the light novel series, will once again helm the new anime. The first anime, consisting of 12 episodes, was produced by Lerche and broadcast by Funimation with English subtitles and dubbing.

For those unfamiliar with the source material: Endou first released the action-fantasy light novel series with illustrations by Maruino in June 2012. The series has garnered a large fanbase with 700,000 copies in print (as of April 2023), and the first manga adaptation was serialized by Pochi Edoya in Monthly Comp Ace from September 2014 to October 2015. Senbei Nori then began a manga adaptation of the "Restart" arc in April 2016, with the first volume published by Kadokawa in September of the same year.

As for the plot of "Restart": 16 magical girls are once again brought together for a dangerous game. Every three days, they are transported via their magical phones into an RPG-like simulation where they must work together to defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and earn rewards. The ultimate prize is a reward of ten billion yen for the player who lands the final blow. But as tensions rise, the girls may turn against each other, and when their hit points drop to zero, the game truly begins...
