The slice-of-life manga series "Maid-san wa Taberu dake" (English: The Maid Just Eats) by Susumu Maehya will receive an animated adaptation in the year 2026. Initial visual materials as well as details regarding the cast were released for the announcement.

The plot follows the protagonist Suzume Tachibana, who, after her work as a maid in Great Britain, begins a new life in a small Japanese residential complex. The story shows her daily life in an environment initially foreign to her, with her growing interest in Japanese cuisine being the central focus.

Kana Ichinose has been confirmed as the voice actress for the main role of Suzume. The animation is being produced at EMT Squared and Magic Bus under the direction of Ryosuke Izumi. Natsuko Takahashi and Saeka Fujimoto are responsible for the series composition, while Chiaki Abe is in charge of character design. The musical accompaniment is by Katsuhiko Kitagawa (ROUND TABLE).

The teaser visual shows Suzume with a Taiyaki sweet on a bench under blooming cherry trees. A first preview video clip presents the character in a moment of joy while consuming the same pastry.

Original author Susumu Maehya expressed his anticipation for the adaptation and emphasized how the animation will bring out the cuteness of the characters even more. Voice actress Kana Ichinose described how she is charmed by Suzume's quiet daily life and her authentic reactions to various foods.

The original manga is published in the Comic Days Magazine and currently comprises four collected volumes.
