A new trailer was released on the official Twitter account of the anime Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, previewing the songs "Koigoromo" by the band ARCANA PROJECT and "rebind" by Japanese singer TRUE, which will open and close the series, respectively. The premiere date, set for January 9, was also announced.



Onigunsō writes and illustrates this work, which was serialized in Miracle Jump magazine from April 2014 to December 2015. In January 2016, the series then moved to Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine, where it continues to this day, with a total of 14 compiled volumes released so far.

When spirits cross into the human world, they can possess old objects and take physical form: these are tsukumogami. They can be friendly, violent, or anything in between, and the Saenome clan peacefully helps return them to the spirit world to prevent destruction.

Hyōma Kunato is a member of the clan, but he is not very peaceful—he harbors a grudge after a tsukumogami stole something precious from him. Fearing that Hyōma’s unchecked rage in dealing with these spirits could lead to supernatural disasters, his grandfather sends him to Kyoto to live with Botan Nagatsuki, an unusual young woman who actually lives alongside tsukumogami as family. Can Hyōma learn to control his emotions when facing tsukumogami, or is his own spirit doomed to be forever possessed by wrath?
