Kodansha announced on Wednesday that Yuki Suetsugu's manga Chihayafuru will end with the 49th volume. Chihayafuru, which is currently serialized in Kodansha's BE-LOVE magazine, is a coming-of-age story about friendship, love, and the growth of high school students who are passionate about competitive karuta.

Madhouse adapted the manga into three anime seasons, which aired in fall 2011, winter 2013, and fall 2019.
