Buichi Terasawa, the creative mind behind the iconic manga Space Adventure Cobra, passed away on September 8 at the age of 68 due to a heart attack. This was announced by the official Twitter account for Terasawa's works on Monday.

Terasawa was born in 1955 in Hokkaido and moved to Tokyo in 1976 to study under the legendary Osamu Tezuka. He gained fame through the publication of the manga series Cobra, which ran from 1978 to 1984 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The story revolves around Cobra, a man with the ability to transform his left arm into a weapon, who evades arrest by the authorities and faces various threats due to his mysterious past. The manga was adapted into a 31-episode TV series and a film, both released in 1982. A sequel manga, Cobra: Over the Rainbow, was published in 2019.
