Fans of the manga series "Freiren" need to be brave, as the series will be put on indefinite hiatus without any announcement of a resumption date. Written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe and Takehiko Yamada, the manga has been serialized since 2020 in the magazine Weekly Shônen Sunday by Shogakukan and currently spans 9 compiled volumes. The series won the award for best manga at the Manga Taisho Awards 2021 and received the prize for best new creator at the 25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.

Despite the hiatus, fans can look forward to an anime adaptation of the series in the form of a TV show later this year, although an exact premiere date has not yet been announced.

The story follows the elf Frieren and her young apprentice Fern as they embark on a journey to revisit the places once traveled by a group of heroes who defeated the Demon King. Frieren reflects on missed opportunities to form deeper bonds with her now-deceased comrades and mourns the passage of time.
