A new manga serialization, "Vampire Hunter D: Rose Princess," based on the novel series by Hideyuki Kikuchi, began today, July 31, on the web manga site of Asahi Shimbun Publishing, Sonorama+. The project celebrates the 40th anniversary of the "Vampire Hunter D" series and is illustrated by Saiko Takaki, who also drew the previous manga adaptation of "Vampire Hunter D."
The story is set in a world ruled by vampires, who possess both supernatural and advanced scientific abilities. Humanity has been reduced to mere livestock and labor for these vampires. At the center of the tale is the village of Sakhri, ruled by a "princess" who lives in a rose-covered villa guarded by four knights. The villagers are brutally murdered by these knights. Amid this chaos, the beautiful and fearless vampire hunter D arrives in Sakhri to challenge the vampiric oppression. The first release consists of two episodes.
