The manga series "Twilight Out of Focus" by Jyanome has confirmed its television adaptation. This development was announced via the official Twitter account of the manga series. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Yƫma Uchida, the original voices behind the characters Mao Tsuchiya and Hisashi Otomo in the manga's drama CD, will return for the anime adaptation. An illustration drawn by Jyanome to commemorate the announcement was also released.
"Twilight Out of Focus" first appeared in 2019 on the digital shelves of Kodansha's BL magazine Honey Milk. The manga's story follows film enthusiast Mao Tsuchiya and his lonely roommate Hisashi Otomo as they navigate their shared existence with the help of three promises. These rules are meant to guide their cohabitation in the student dormitory, but the plot explores the nuances and complications that such boundaries bring.
After the first installment, four additional narratives in the same series were published. The second book, "Twilight Out of Focus 2: Afterimages in Slow Motion," hit shelves in Japan in July 2020. The third installment, "Twilight Out of Focus 3: Overlap," was released in August 2020. The fourth issue, "Twilight Out of Focus 4: The Evening Monologues," deviated from the original storyline and was published in June 2021. The fifth installment, "Twilight Out of Focus long take," is set to release in Japan on July 12.
