Directed by Sunao Katabuchi, the project has been in the works since 2017. The film's setting is in 10th-century Kyoto, a time when the real-life literary figure Sei Shōnagon wrote "The Pillow Book."

The event not only revealed the title but also introduced the music composer for the project, Akira Senju. The importance of a well-composed soundtrack in animated films cannot be overstated, as it significantly contributes to the viewer's emotional engagement and the overall experience.

In addition to announcing the title and music composer, a making-of video and a teaser video were also released, offering a behind-the-scenes look and a visual introduction to the film.

The plot of the film will revolve around an epidemic, with characters such as Koretada, Tokinaka, Chikatada, and Takaie playing leading roles alongside Sei Shōnagon.
