Marriage Toxin – Anime adaptation for 2026 announced

The manga series Marriage Toxin (jap. Marrijī Tokishin) by author Mizuki Yoda based on an original story by Jōmyaku is receiving an anime adaptation. The production by the studio Bones Film is planned for the year 2026.

The plot of the series, which is published in the magazine Shōnen Jump+, combines romantic elements with action scenes. The focus is on the young Hikaru Gero, who comes from a family of assassins that has been active for centuries and has the ability to use poisons. His family pressures him to marry and produce offspring in order to continue the tradition. Since he himself has little experience with women and his sister would otherwise be forced to take on this role, he finally begins a search for a partner. To support him, he hires the con artist Mei Shirosaki, who was originally his professional target.

The cast of the main roles includes Haruki Ishitani as Hikaru Gero and Shion Wakayama as Mei Shirosaki. The direction is taken over by Nobuyuki Hori, known for works such as Carole & Tuesday. The series concept and the scripts come from Kimiko Ueno. The character design is the responsibility of Kohei Norioku, the musical accompaniment by Taisei Iwasaki and Yuma Yamaguchi.

A published motif shows the two main characters in front of a nightly city backdrop – Gero with his poison weapons and Shirosaki with a bouquet of flowers. A teaser video introduces the unusual relationship of the characters and shows how Gero makes a marriage proposal to his former target.
