The TV adaptation of the successful manga "Marriage Toxin" by Joumyaku (original story) and Mizuki Yoda (artwork) is getting a continuation. Immediately after the finale of the first season, which aired on Japanese television on June 30, 2026, the production team announced the second season. It is scheduled to start in January 2027 in the weekly Tuesday at 11 p.m. timeslot "Ka-Anival!!" (Kansai TV, Fuji TV, and partners).

The first season consisted of 13 episodes, broadcast from April 7 to June 30, 2026. It adapted the story arcs involving the Water Master, the Sound Master, and the Beast Master. The director was Motonobu Hori, who previously directed series such as "Carole & Tuesday." The series composition and scripts were handled by Kimiko Ueno, while character design and artistic direction were overseen by Kohei Tokuoka. The music was composed by Taisei Iwasaki and yuma yamaguchi. Animation production was handled by Bones Film, the studio responsible for series like "My Hero Academia: Vigilantes."

The main roles were voiced by Haruki Ishiya as Hikaru Gero, the heir of the Poison Clan, and Shion Wakayama as the marriage swindler Mei Kinosaki. The additional cast includes Anna Nagase, Mariya Ise, Asaki Yuikawa, Soma Saito, Hinano Shirahama, Simba Tsuchiya, Haruka Shiraishi, and Isamu Yusen. The series is streaming internationally on Crunchyroll.

Both creator Joumyaku and artist Mizuki Yoda expressed their excitement about the continuation in statements. Joumyaku expressed surprise and gratitude for the fans' support: "I loved the opening and ending songs of the first season and listened to them over and over again—the thought that there might be new pieces for this now already makes me very excited." Mizuki Yoda added: "In the second season, many new, lovable, and unpredictable characters will join and run wild through the story. Look forward to it!"

The plot of "Marriage Toxin" revolves around hitman Hikaru Gero, who, to prevent his sister's forced marriage, enlists the help of the cunning swindler Mei to find a bride for himself. What begins as a desperate plan evolves into a tough battle for the perfect marriage—seasoned with action, dark humor, and an unusual romance. The second season is expected to focus on new antagonists, including the mysterious figure Teruaki, who was hinted at in the finale of the first season.

The original manga has been serialized since April 2022 in Shueisha's "Shonen Jump+" app and currently comprises 17 collected volumes in Japan (as of April 2026). The series has been recommended by Gege Akutami ("Jujutsu Kaisen") and Koyoharu Gotouge ("Demon Slayer") and is distributed in English translation by Manga Plus and Viz Media.
