Senri encounters a group of disenfranchised people led by Gentsugu, who promises them a new life, while searching for a ship. Meanwhile, officials discuss the importance of finding gold to support the government and former samurai.

The police shift their focus from Osanai's murder to a broader investigation, and Shizuma is frustrated that no action is being taken against the killer. A Yakuza conflict is resolved by a message from a master, hinting at a larger scheme involving Shuragami—who is actually Ikegami Souichirou—aimed at eliminating Hiramatsu Buhei. The episode ends with a dramatic showdown where alliances are tested, and the fate of Kyoushirou and his allies in the fight against Hiramatsu and his forces hangs in the balance.
