In the anime series "Meitantei Conan" (Detective Conan) based on the original by Gōshō Aoyama, an original episode titled "Ishinomaki no Hero" (The Hero of Ishinomaki) is being produced. The plot takes place in the city of Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture.

Conan, Ran, Kogorō, and Haibara visit the city of Ishinomaki and coincidentally meet Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta, who are participating in filming for the "Yaiber Youth Group." During their exploration tour, Conan and Haibara also notice Inspector Chiba.

Although they are concerned about Chiba's condition, they do not dare to approach him. During this situation, Ayumi disappears without a trace. Everything indicates that she is in Inspector Chiba's company. Conan does everything to save both after they fall into the hands of Dario – an international reseller operating in Ishinomaki who has already committed a murder.

On the occasion of this special episode, a special motif was released, showing the three youths in front of the former main store of Kankemaru, an official cultural asset of Miyagi. The illustration depicts the characters admiring a masked Yaiber statue in front of the building.

Additionally, a promotional video was released in which Conan speaks in the regional Miyagi dialect. The characteristic speech rhythm with endings like "~daccha" and "~cchane" comes into play, and Conan presents a typical saying from the region.
